Powered by Cummins Global Gas Platform | Engineered for Biogas Applications (20kVA – 1875kVA)
Biogas is not a clean fuel. It is chemically unstable, corrosive, and highly variable in methane content. Standard natural gas generators fail prematurely when exposed to hydrogen sulfide, siloxanes, moisture, and fluctuating calorific value commonly found in agricultural, landfill, and wastewater biogas.
The Enerzip® C Series Biogas Generator Sets are engineered specifically to address these challenges. Rather than treating biogas as “low-quality natural gas,” Enerzip integrates Cummins gas engine platforms with dedicated biogas combustion tuning, corrosion protection, and safety architecture to deliver stable baseload power from organic waste. For series comparison across farm-scale and industrial biogas projects, you may also explore the Biogas Generator Sets Series.
1. Cummins Biogas-Hardened Engine Platform
The C Series is powered by genuine Cummins gas engines (B, C, L, N, K, and QSV series), selected for industrial durability and global serviceability.
To withstand the aggressive chemical composition of biogas, critical engine components—including valves, valve seats, and combustion chamber materials—are reinforced and calibrated for biogas operation. This hardened internal configuration reduces corrosion caused by hydrogen sulfide and acidic condensate, significantly extending service life compared to standard gas engines.
The Cummins global support network ensures spare parts availability and technical support throughout the lifecycle of waste-to-energy projects.
2. Low-BTU & Variable Methane Tolerance
Biogas quality fluctuates with feedstock, digestion temperature, and biological activity. The Enerzip® C Series is designed to operate reliably on biogas with methane content typically ranging from 40% to 70%.
Advanced combustion calibration and lean-burn control maintain stable output during methane fluctuations, preventing misfiring, power loss, or shutdowns common in conventional generators.
3. Ignition & Air-Fuel Mixing for Unstable Gas
Reliable ignition is critical for lean and variable biogas.
The C Series utilizes high-energy digital ignition systems from Altronic (USA) or Motortech (Germany), combined with Venturi-based air–fuel mixing systems from Impco or Motortech. These systems automatically adapt to changes in gas pressure and methane concentration, ensuring stable combustion and protecting the engine from knock and flame instability.
4. CHP Integration for Digester Efficiency
In biogas projects, heat recovery is as important as electricity generation.
The Enerzip® C Series is CHP-ready by design, allowing exhaust and jacket water heat to be recovered for digester heating. By maintaining optimal digester temperature, gas production stability improves while total system efficiency can exceed 85%.
5. Electrical Output & Grid Synchronization
The generator sets can be configured with alternators from Leroy Somer, Stamford, Siemens, or ENGGA, featuring VPI-treated windings for moisture and chemical resistance.
Advanced controllers from ComAp or DeepSea support island operation, grid synchronization, and feed-in tariff applications, enabling biogas projects to monetize surplus renewable electricity.
6. Gas Train & Safety Architecture
Enerzip replaces conventional fuel systems with professional biogas gas trains from DUNGS or Kromschröder, incorporating double-block solenoid valves, zero-pressure regulators, and leak-tested piping.
This safety-focused architecture ensures stable gas supply while minimizing leakage risk in methane-rich environments.
7. Structure, Enclosure & Corrosion Protection
All C Series generator sets are mounted on Enerzip® heavy-duty steel chassis produced via robotic welding for vibration control and structural integrity.
For corrosive biogas environments, silent canopies feature advanced powder coating with chemical pre-treatment. Optional stainless steel exhaust components are available for high-sulfur applications.
