Bạch Mai Hospital, as a leading national-level general hospital in Vietnam, requires a backup power architecture built to the highest standards for top-tier medical facilities and life-support environments. Its emergency power system follows a three-layer protection architecture, combining a centralized main generator plant, distributed dedicated generator sets for critical departments, and UPS support to help protect essential hospital operations during utility power failure.

For the core standby power system, the hospital adopts Enerzip C Series diesel generator sets powered by Cummins engines with Wuxi Stamford alternators. In the main building’s centralized generator room, the configuration includes two 1200 kW main generator sets and one 1000 kW standby generator set in an N+1 redundancy arrangement. The system uses fully automatic ATS transfer, enabling the generator plant to take load within 15 seconds or less after utility power loss. A dedicated underground fuel storage system is designed to support 24 hours or more of full-load operation, with approximately 15–20 tons of diesel fuel capacity.

To further strengthen medical power continuity, the hospital also uses distributed dedicated generator sets for critical departments and specialized zones. The ICU and operating room cluster is supported by two 500 kW dedicated generator sets to help protect life-support systems and critical surgical functions. The Oncology Center and Pediatric Cardiology Center are supported by one independent 300 kW generator set, while the information center and data room are protected by one 500 kW generator set to maintain continuity for HIS, LIS, and PACS systems.
